Mission Statement
At StareiHouse RTC/GRO, our mission is to provide trauma-informed, evidence- based residential treatment that nurtures healing, growth, and resilience in children and youth. We are committed to fostering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment that supports individualized care, empowers healthy relationships, and promotes long-term success beyond our walls.
StareiHouse RTC/GRO is a Houston GRO residential treatment center for child placement dedicated to providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care for children and youth. StareiHouse serves as a General Residential Operation Houston child placement facility designed to support individualized care, empower healthy relationships, and promote long-term success.
As a Texas DFPS licensed residential treatment center, our mission is to nurture healing, growth, and resilience in a safe, structured, and compassionate environment. Services at Starei House RTC/GRO include comprehensive clinical and mental health care such as individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, behavior management, and skill-building support. We provide educational services through coordination with local school districts, tutoring, IEP advocacy, and academic monitoring. Health and wellness programs include medical and dental coordination, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, nutrition education, and substance use prevention.

Treatment Approaches at StareiHouse RTC/GRO
We utilize a combination of evidence-informed, trauma-responsive, and skill-based interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of our residents:
1. Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®): A trauma-informed model
designed to build connection, empower voice, and correct behavior through compassion and structure. TBRI® helps children heal from relational trauma and develop trust in caregiving relationships.
2. Aggression Replacement Training (ART): A cognitive-behavioral program that teaches youth how to manage anger, make better decisions, and improve social skills. ART sessions focus on reducing aggressive behavior through structured group work and real-life application.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a leading model of excellence in residential therapeutic care in Texas. A place where every child is seen, heard, and supported. We envision a future where youth
overcome adversity, build meaningful connections, and transition into stable, least-restrictive environments equipped with the tools to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
Our Philosophy
At Starei House, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to heal and flourish in a setting rooted in empathy, structure, and dignity. Our treatment approach integrates Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), and other evidence-informed models to address the complex needs of youth impacted by trauma, neglect, and disruption. We uphold a strength-based philosophy that values family engagement, cultural responsiveness, and the belief that change is possible when children are provided with consistent support, positive relationships, and opportunities for growth.
3. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): Used with youth
experiencing PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. This model helps residents process trauma, reframe harmful thoughts, and learn emotional regulation skills in a safe and supportive setting.
4. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is used to help residents identify and
challenge distorted thinking patterns, build problem-solving skills, and practice healthy coping mechanisms to manage mood and behavior.
5. Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) offers specialized
therapy and intervention services for children who have engaged in sexually
inappropriate or harmful behaviors, helping them understand their actions, develop healthy boundaries, and prevent future offenses.
These services are tailored to support the safety, rehabilitation, and well-being of both the child and the community.
